'Obama, congratulations on being the first sitting president to support marriage equality,' Gaga tweets.

Jay-Z Takes Off Studio Time For Blue Ivy Time

'I just wanna enjoy those moments for a bit and I'm sure that feeling of music will come back to me,' Jay-Z tells MTV News of his daughter.

A$AP Rocky Enlists Jim Jones, Raekwon For A$AP Mob Album

Rocky was tight-lipped on 'RapFix Live,' but reveals collabos with Kendrick Lamar, hip-hop newcomers the Flatbush Zombies.

There will be no summer vacation for A$AP Rocky; the Harlem rapper is fast at work on two albums. First he will drop a group album with his A$AP Mob collective and then follow up with his solo debut Long.Live.A$AP. Though he has a lot on his plate, Rock will have a little bit of help.

"We got Nast on there, we got Ferg on there, we got Twelvyy on there, we got me on there," Rocky jokingly responded after some prodding by "RapFix Live" host Sway Calloway about the guest features on the A$AP Mob LP.

It's a given that all the rapping members of the Mob would appear on the group album, so Rock reluctantly gave more detail. "We got the Flatbush Zombies on there, we got Jim Jones on there, we got Raekwon on there," he said.

Both Jim Jones and Raekwon are industry vets, while the Flatbush Zombies are newcomers who emerged last year on the strength of their standout single "Thug Waffle." The video has notched almost a half million views on YouTube since being released in January.

Rocky was more guarded when it came to dropping any feature info regarding Long.Live.A$AP. "I can't really get into that right now. You tried to catch me right now," he told Sway laughing.

The "Goldie" MC passed the mic to A$AP Yams, who was sitting beside him on the couch. "I'ma let Yams spill the beans, but don't give too much away," he warned his buddy.

After a long pause Yams revealed a single name: "Kendrick Lamar," he said, name-dropping Rocky's Club Paradise tourmate.

Is 'X Factor' The Right Move For Britney Spears?

Experts weigh in on whether Spears will find success with her new judging gig.
By Christina Garibaldi

<P><a href="/news/articles/1680782/britney-spears-x-factor-judge-offer.jhtml">The rumors had been swirling</a> for months, and now, according to reports, the pop princess herself, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a>, will be joining the <a href="/news/articles/1684813/britney-spears-x-factor-judge.jhtml">judging panel on "The X Factor,"</a> landing a <a href="/news/articles/1684879/britney-spears-x-factor-deal-judge.jhtml">$15 million deal</a> for one season.</P><P>Yet, after 15 years in the public eye, seven studio albums and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, many are wondering: Is "The X Factor" the <a href="/news/articles/1680800/britney-spears-x-factor-judge-singing.jhtml">right career move for Spears</a>?</P><P>"I think it is a good move, actually," <a href="http://www.ew.com/ew/" target="_blank"><i>Entertainment Weekly</i></a> writer Tanner Stransky told MTV News. "I think she has so many people on her team watching what she's doing and being careful. I think nobody would let her take a misstep, but I think it's the right move right now."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Spears' 'X Factor' Gig Could Breathe Light Into Her Career" id="vid:768409" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>This new role certainly has many advantages. It keeps Spears in the public eye while keeping her close to her family, and it will most likely bring in the big ratings that "X Factor" and Simon Cowell are hoping for. Yet there are some experts who are a little wary of Spears taking a spot on the panel, since over the years, the pop star has been noticeably withdrawn from press, rarely giving on-camera interviews.</P><P>"I think everyone is a little concerned, simply because Britney has been very press-shy since she's been in her conservatorship, and everything is incredibly guarded and incredibly controlled," Keith Caulfield, associate director of charts at <a href="http://www.billboard.com/" target="_blank"><i>Billboard,</i></a> said. "And there can be uncontrollable moments on 'The X Factor,' and if things are not completely in control and things are not rehearsed, things could go wrong. With a live show, anything can happen, and that can be very exciting but, at the same time, a little worrisome."</P><P>Stransky agreed and believes that, while Spears is judging the contestants, viewers will ultimately be judging her.</P><P>"Everyone is going to take a close look at her and pay attention to what she says," Stransky said. "She's sort of been so managed on her interviews in the past five years, it's risky."</P><P>But Spears' loyal fanbase feels that putting Spears in an environment where anything can happen is actually a good thing, and will show a whole different side of the pop star.</P><P>"That's part of the excitement of her being on this: It's unscripted," said Jordan Miller, webmaster for Spears' biggest fan site, <a href="http://www.breatheheavy.com/" target="_blank">BreatheHeavy.com</a>. "We are so used to her reading cue cards and kind of being controlled in that way, so for her to break out of that and to do something that's stepping outside her comfort zone, I think it's a great step for her, career-wise, and for her as a person. I think she's going to do really good. I think she's confident."</P><P>And confidence is key when judging a singing competition, but so is experience &#8212; which Spears has in spades. For years, fans have listened to her chart-topping music and have seen her on tour, but now they're ready to connect with the star on a new level.</P><P>"I think the overall consensus is that people are really excited to see Britney do something new and be able to connect with her a couple times a week on national television," Miller said. "It's exciting for fans to see that she's going to be able to mentor these contestants, because like it or not, Britney does have the 'X Factor,' so it's going to be great to see how she can transcend this into more singers and inspire other people."</P><P><i>Are you excited for Britney Spears to be a judge on "The X Factor"? 'Game Of Thrones' Battle Of Blackwater 'Off The Scale'

'They've spared no expense in making an awesome episode,' Richard Madden tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

So, how about Sunday's episode of "Game of Thrones"? Have you recovered from all the fireworks? 'Twas a doozy, for sure. Thank goodness there is still one more episode left in this action-packed season.

Fans of George R.R. Martin's source material had an inkling of what to expect from the highly anticipated Battle of Blackwater, but the sheer spectacle of it all was something to behold, even for the actors who had prepared themselves for it.

"It was off the scale," star Richard Madden (a.k.a. Robb Stark) told MTV News of the production that went into the sequence. "I know in season one we started a battle and we saw the end of a battle, and I know some people weren't too pleased about that, but season two makes up for that and then some. They've spared no expense in making an awesome episode."

So, how many days did the cast and crew actually spend working on the battle? "Days and days and weeks," Madden said. "I know there was months of CGI work to get those episodes looking awesome. If you've read the books, you know what that battle entails: It's pretty visual, like a lot of George's stuff. I think people won't be disappointed."

Looking ahead to what's to come for the would-be king, we also asked Madden if he has read ahead to find out what's in store for his character.

"It's one of the things I try to avoid doing. I only read season by season: I don't read ahead," he explained. "It's one of the great things about the books that I loved is that you are constantly surprised by these characters and the story, and as an actor, I want to try and stick to that.

"I know if I read too far ahead, I'd start preempting character traits or decisions he makes," he continued. "I'd much rather be an actor and make one decision and stick to it and then have the challenge of turning it around and going in a different direction. I try and keep it like that as much as I can so the audience gets as surprised by the journey as I do when I read the books and when I read each script."

No hay más Led Zeppelin

By

Linkin Park Do 'Everything At Once' On LIVING THINGS

LP's new album — due June 26 — sees them looking back, while still pushing the envelope forward.
By James Montgomery

Linkin Park's <i>LIVING THINGS</i>
Photo: Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros

As if the drastic left turn they took with 2010's A Thousand Suns wasn't proof enough, it should be fairly obvious at this point that Linkin Park have grown tired of doing things the traditional way. Rather, they're determined to blaze their own trail, which, given their standing as one of the hugest rock acts on the planet, is a certainly admirable — if not slightly questionable — way of operating.

And though the follow-up to the willfully dissonant SunsLIVING THINGS (due June 26) — isn't quite as obtuse, it still finds the band experimenting with vastly different soundscapes, lyrical themes and recording techniques, simultaneously honing their focus and expanding their horizons. It is the rare record that both pays homage to the past while bolding looking forward, and needless to say, it's a head-spinning listen from start to finish. Though, as Linkin Park told MTV News during the premiere of their new "BURN IT DOWN" video, they prefer to think of it as just the next step.

"It's just really different [from anything we've done before]," Mike Shinoda said. "I feel like we made a serious effort to try and touch all of the bases of all of the different things that we've done, and bring them together in each song. Not just one album, but each song. And then maybe sprinkle in some stuff that we've never done before, too."

That's evident in first single "BURN," which recalls both LP's nu-metal past and their current experimental present ... or in standout tracks like "CASTLE OF GLASS" or "UNTIL IT BREAKS," sonic rattlers born out of the band's less-than-traditional methods of recording, and all the better because of it.

"Our writing process is a weird, amorphous thing. For some bands, just to put it in perspective, they jam, and then they write a song and then they record a song and then they mix it and finish it ... we don't do that," Shinoda laughed. "We do everything at once, every step of the way. From the moment we're putting things down on the laptop, I'm already kind of mixing it a little bit [and] sometimes those things end up being songs, like 'CASTLE OF GLASS,' [where] my vocal performance in the first part of that song, pretty much almost everything you hear in the beginning of the song was the very first demo. Like, that went from nothing there, to those things, and then the song got built.

"Some songs we'll come up with demos, and they won't ever turn into anything ... we'll hear them, and we'll know they're not ever going to be a great song on their own," he continued. "But there may be a section of it, a little glimmer of cool something in it, and the song 'Until It Breaks' is built from just those. There were like four demos that we had made that weren't going anywhere individually, but when you put them all together, they make something really interesting. It's supposed to feel really jarring and weird, and for me it was a really fun song to make."

So yes, while LIVING THINGS does represent a return to the band's thundering past, it is also very much a snapshot of the band in 2012, still at the peak of their powers, still melding seemingly disparate sounds and influences, and pushing the envelope whenever possible. By whatever means necessary.

"Just because you see Brad [Delson] playing a guitar on stage, doesn't mean he just writes guitar on the album. A lot of times, especially on this record, more often than not, he wasn't playing guitar," Shinoda said. "But regardless of who played what, in our band, that's not important. It's more about everybody's got a voice, and everybody's got an influence on the song, and if one guy's not really happy with something, then we try to address it."

Rick Ross And Usher's 'Touch 'N You' Is For 'The Ladies'

Rozay and Usher talk to MTV News about the 'sexy' track from their video set in Atlanta.

God Forgives, but Rick Ross does not. Still, as apathetic as the Bawse may portray himself, Rozay has a sweet spot when it comes to the ladies. So on "Touch 'N You," the new big money single off of Ross' upcoming God Forgives, I Don't, the Maybach CEO and guest star Usher Raymond show a little love to the hunnies.

"It's a real sexy record. I wanted to make sure the ladies knew that they could be a part of this movement, a part of this project," Rick Ross told MTV News on Thursday (May 24) from the "Touch 'N You" video set in Atlanta. "I would never let the ladies down even if it's a real hard album or however it may be titled."

The upcoming clip is directed by Chris Robinson (Lil Wayne "How to Love," Jay-Z "Roc Boys") and will of course co-star Usher. "It's an incredible one, Chris once again comes together making an incredible video," Usher told us. "It is a conceptual video depicting the world that Rozay is in. My participation is just to show up and be cool."

Cool is an understatement when it comes to Usher, who is riding high off of his #1 Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song "Climax." Ross is no stranger to love songs either; he's given the ladies plenty to swoon over on singles like 2008's "Here I Am" and 2010's "Aston Martin Music," but having Ush on a track adds a certain appeal.

The combination of Raymond's vocals and the sexy "Touch 'N You" video should be just enough to help Rozay properly put his feelings in perspective. Sometimes after long studio sessions with Meek Mill, Wale and the rest of his MMG compadres, the Bawse just needs to get away, and that's what he aims to capture in the clip. "It's basically like a situation where life gets so hectic sometimes you just want to get away with that special female and that's what this was based off," he said.

What do you think of Rick Ross and Usher's "Touch 'N You"? Lets us know in the comments!

Lindsay Lohan Admits To Failing Drug Test

Lindsay Lohan pictures admits failing drug test cocaine Inferno jail time

And THIS is why early discharges from rehab are generally a bad idea {sigh}. Lindsay Lohan confessed on twitter that she had, indeed, failed a drug test.

Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result.

TMZ is now reporting that Lindsay actually failed two drug tests. In addition to landing her in jail, this setback could also further derail Lindsay's career, according to TMZ.

Lindsay is now relying on Judge Elden Fox to allow her to leave California to shoot "Inferno" in Louisiana and possibly fly to New York City for "Saturday Night Live."

Here's the problem. Sources connected with the case have been telling TMZ ... if Lindsay were to fail a drug test the judge would probably pull the plug on out-of-state-travel -- a privilege for Lindsay, not a right.

...But all bets are off now that Lindsay has flunked two tests.

And sources close to Lindsay somehow already know the big wigs on "Inferno" are pissed that she may have screwed up again, so flying to Louisiana may be a moot question.

You can't really blame the 'Inferno' producers for being upset. It looks like the best thing for Lindsay at this point is a long-term stay in an inpatient facility that focuses solely on drug abuse (not drug problems and psychiatric problems, which is what the UCLA program did).

This is really just TOO sad.

Robert Pattinson: Working With 'Cosmopolis' Director Was 'A Relief'

Actor reveals how he prepared for his role in the David Cronenberg film at a Cannes Film Festival press conference.

Director David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis" received mixed reviews after its debut at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 25). Critics were split on whether they felt Robert Pattinson was right for the lead role. Some felt his performance was bland, but others thought he nailed the part, fitting well into the director's vision.

During a press conference for the film, Pattinson explained why he and Cronenberg work well together, chalking it up to Cronenberg's careful direction.

"If [a director's] sitting on the set, a bunch of people will ask you questions all the time," he said. "And then a lot of directors, I find, are kind of exhausted by the time they're actually supposed to do their job with the actors. They're not really listening anymore. I think David is listening so intently when you're doing a scene. ... When you feel something in a scene, you know that he's seen it, which is such a relief. And it makes you actually pay attention to what you're doing as well."

Cronenberg also made Pattinson aware of different camera angles and how the placement of cameras can greatly affect his performance.

"I think a lot of directors and actors refuse to accept anything about camera technique," Pattinson continued. "[Cronenberg was] completely frank about it and [said], 'Listen, if I put a camera here, it's going to totally affect the way you perform.' And it really did, the blocking was like direction, which I never really experienced before."

"Cosmopolis" follows Eric Packer (Pattinson) in a futuristic New York City. As he's chauffeured through Manhattan on his way to get a haircut, the world is falling apart around him — protestors are rioting, his marriage is failing, his vast financial status is declining and he soon discovers clues that reveal an attempt on his life.

When asked how he prepared for the taxing role, Pattinson told the audience he spent a lot of the time concerned over how his performance would come together. "I kind of spent two weeks in my hotel room worrying and confusing myself. And I remember the weekend before shooting, I called David — because we had no rehearsals — to talk to him about it. [I said,] 'I just wanted to sort of ask one question,' " he recalled, mimicking his timid tone. "He said, 'Do you want to talk about the movie for a second?' So I went to his house and I think he just said that it doesn't really matter: 'Let's just start and something will happen.' "

Worrying aside, Pattinson found a way to bring his character to life. He didn't improvise scenes and he didn't change any of the lines. He stuck to the script and followed Cronenberg's vision for his character as it was laid out in front of him.

"I think [Eric Packer's] impossible to approach like you would a normal character," he said. "What I liked about the script initially was its lyricism and just the rhythms of it. Normally when you do a movie, you can kind of blur the lines and make it your own. But with this, I didn't want to change a single word, even the punctuation. That made it easier, it's like you're doing a song instead of a movie. It freed you up. If you're trying to do something in a cerebral way, it becomes about ego and it's silly at that point."

Did Pattinson find similarities between himself and his character?

"I do think people are trying to kill me all the time," he joked.

'Mob Wives' Drita And Carla Read 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'

'What is this? This is dirty!' Drita D'Avanzo exclaims after reciting a passage of 'Fifty Shades' for MTV News.

Filth or sensual fan fiction? It's impossible not to have an opinion on E L James' erotic New York Times best-seller "Fifty Shades of Grey." Single ladies, girlfriends and housewives have all been drawn to the steamy novel — not to mention "Mob Wives." VH1 reality star Carla Facciolo hasn't read the current "it" book, but she gets the gist of it.

"To me, it's like a sex book," she told MTV News in an attempt to describe the "50 Shades" phenomenon. "Grey is a guy that every girl wants; he's like a dream guy and he seduces."

Carla's synopsis was enough to whet the appetite of her "Mob Wives" pal Drita D'Avanzo, who immediately let her curiosity get the best of her. "I wanna read it," Drita blurted out.

Lucky for the reality-show beauty, MTV News had a copy of the book on hand for her to sample. "It's very intense," Carla warned.

Still, Drita opened the book and began her moment of "Fifty Shades" discovery. "Get off the bed, stand over here," D'Avanzo read from one of the book's later chapters, in which playboy Christian Grey introduces his naive lover Anastasia Steele to a kinky sexual experience. "He holds out his hand and in his palm are two shiny balls linked with a thick, black thread," Drita continued to read before she stopped herself, shocked by the sexual suggestiveness.

"What the f--- is this?" Drita questioned in her unmistakable Staten Island, New York, accent. "They're ass beads? What is this? This is dirty — what the hell is this?"

"Fifty Shades" wasn't Drita's cup of tea, but maybe she will change her mind when the book is adapted into a film (Universal Pictures has already secured the rights). "How do you even know about this, Carla?" she asked, chastising her buddy. "You, for even knowing about that book, I gotta think twice about you."

Carla had only one reasonable explanation: "It's the hottest book out right now."

Filth or sexy fan fiction? What do you think of "Fifty Shades of Grey"? Let us know in the comments!

As all of you married couples out there know, once kids come along, you have to grab couple time together whenever you can! Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were spotted having coffee together yesterday morning.

I hope they make some time to go out and celebrate this evening: Ben's new movie, 'The Town,' is projected to be the #1 movie this weekend! It was expected to come in #2 behind the teen movie 'Easy A,' but unless the teens turn out in force tonight, 'The Town' is expected to win the weekend.

After all his ups and downs, I'm sure Ben is a happy guy today :)

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year

Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.
By James Montgomery with MTV News staff

<P>"I'm bewildered," <a href="/music/artist/plant_robert/artist.jhtml">Robert Plant</a> said onstage as he accepted the <MTVNLINK type="news" id="1604580">Grammy Album of the Year award</MTVNLINK> with <a href="/music/artist/krauss_alison/artist.jhtml">Alison Krauss</a> on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday."</P><P>He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because <i>Raising Sand,</i> which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys/">Grammy</a> album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.</p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:338316" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D338316" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p></P><P>You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history.</P><P>Really, she's the key to <i>Sand</i>'s success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music &#8212; so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, <i>Sand</i> was released.</P><P>And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain.</P><P>And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on <i>Sand.</i> His arrangements are sparse &#8212; giving the two voices ample room to breathe &#8212; yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified.</P><P>To date, <i>Sand</i> has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year &#8212; "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals.</P><P>One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album.</P><P>"At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" <i>New York Times</i> music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really <i>good</i> record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards." </p>

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Will Bring 'Serious Wisdom' to 'X Factor'

MTV News talks to 'So You Think You Can Dance' cast about Fox's decision to enlist the two pop stars for the reality singing show.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P><b>NEW YORK</b> &#8212; As the fall TV season continues to make news, Fox has had the most buzz thanks to the <a href="/news/articles/1685004/demi-lovato-x-factor-judge.jhtml">news that Demi Lovato</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1684879/britney-spears-x-factor-deal-judge.jhtml">Britney Spears will sit down</a> beside Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid as female judges on "The X Factor," replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul.</P><P>On Monday (May 14), as talent from many of the network's leading shows lined up to talk to the press at the Fox event, what everyone really wanted to know was how these two artists might fit on the reality competition show.</P><P>Given that both have made names for themselves thanks to their own unique charms as pop stars, some of the more seasoned network vets offered up some sage advice for the reality show newbies. MTV News chatted with the folks of "So You Think You Can Dance," in the hours before the presentation where they were confirmed, to get their sage advice for Brit and Demi.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'So You Think You Can Dance' Cast Weigh In On Britney Spears, Demi Lovato For 'X Factor'" id="vid:768829" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>"You know, I don't have any advice for those ladies," "SYTYCD" host Cat Deeley explained. "What I do like about it though is they will be able to absolutely impart some serious wisdom. I love the idea that they've been in the business for so long and since being kids and so quite often they've had successes and they've had failures on things.</P><P>"And I think the most important thing is the mistakes we make," she added. "You learn so much from mistakes that you make and I think they'll be able to impart their wisdom to the new kids coming through. I think it's a great booking."</P><P>Judge Mary Murphy seemed excited by the chance to run into the girls at Fox-related events, and even shared that she'd love to see dancer Britney make an appearance on her show as well.</P><P>"So she would be a good [guest] too if she wanted to pop on over, but I think she's going to be a busy young woman with everything she has going on," she said. "I think we'll tune in to find out what the heck she's gonna say!" she said, going on to share some judging advice. "Just try to speak from the heart and you can't go wrong."</P><P>While Murphy and Deeley focused on the positive when it comes to their highly publicized judging spots, Nigel Lythgoe wondered if the singers (Britney, 30, and Demi, 19) might be too young for a mentor-type position.</P><P>"Well they've got to look on it as a brand-new show, to be frank. I don't think they need to look at the first season. I think they've got to be honest as they can be," he said of coming in for season two. "They're both artists and artists will always couch any criticism because they know that they've been criticized, so they've got to ignore that.</P><P>"They've got to be as honest as they can be with their contestants and just inspire them to be better," he said, before sharing his one hesitation about them.</P><P>"My only reservation is they're both young and I do think that mentors should be of an age," he added, joking he fears it might put older experts, like him, out of a job. "I do think mentors have had so much experience before they mentor. At the same time, both of these young ladies have had incredible personal experience and been through so much in their own lives that hopefully they can bring that to the party too. But at the end of the day, they are going to take newcomers and literally push them through a reality television competition. It's tough."</P><P><i>Do you think Demi Lovato and Britney Spears will make good judges on "The X Factor"? Leave your comment below!</i></p>

Jay-Z Takes Off Studio Time For Blue Ivy Time

'I just wanna enjoy those moments for a bit and I'm sure that feeling of music will come back to me,' Jay-Z tells MTV News of his daughter.
By Rob Markman

<P><b>PHILADELPHIA</b> &#8212; These days, <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> would rather rock the cradle than rock the mic. After the birth of he and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a>'s daughter <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">Blue Ivy</a>, Hov figured that he'd be so inspired by fatherhood that he'd be locked in the studio pouring his heart out. But fate has more immediate plans for the God MC, at least for the time being.</P><P>"I thought that I would after my daughter was born. I thought I would be more inspired with all the new feelings and everything that I'd have to write about, but it really happened the other way," Big Poppa Hov told MTV News told in Philadelphia following a press conference where he announced his two-day Made in America music festival. "I just really wanna hang out with her. I just wanna enjoy those moments for a bit and I'm sure that feeling of music will come back to me."</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Jay-Z More Into Blue Ivy Than Music, At The Moment" id="vid:768866" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Jigga fans shouldn't worry though, when he does return to the booth, Jay will have a ton to rap about. Just days after baby Blue was born, Hov released "Glory," a track dedicated to his daughter. Not only did he rhyme of his innermost feelings, Jay also featured a sampling of Blue Ivy's first cries on the Pharrell Williams-produced track.</P><P>"A younger, smarter, faster me/ Saw a pinch of Hov, a whole glass of B," the one-time hustler rapped about his first born.</P><P>Long-time Jay fans shouldn't be too surprised by the rapper's intimate soul-bearing, he's been doing it since his 1996 debut album <I>Reasonable Doubt.</i></P><P>"My music has always been like that, if you listen to 'Glory' and you listen to 'Regrets,' which was on my first album, side by side, it's exploring the same sort of emotions," he insists. "It's just one deals with my mom, one deals with my daughter."</P><P>On "Regrets," a younger, much darker Jay addressed the ills of his former street life, but he framed his feelings within the confines of his mother's teachings. "You used to hold me, told me that I was the best/ Anything in this world I want, I could possess/ All that made me want is all that I could get/ In order to survive gotta learn to live with regrets," he spit on the song's heartfelt hook.</P><P>"My music has always been filled with those sort of emotions," he reasoned.</P><P><center><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></center></p>
