<P>Months ago, rumors began circulating that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick were going to tie the knot. And on Friday (December 16), sources close to the pair and a mysterious tweet from the star herself confirmed that the <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">couple is engaged</a>. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Trawick had already been working with the star as her agent at William Morris Endeavor Entertainment when they began dating in 2009. They went public with their romance when they showed up hand-in-hand to the 2010 Grammy Awards. That May, the two decided to separate their business and personal relationships, and it was confirmed that Trawick would <a href="/news/articles/1638945/britney-spears-confirms-professional-split-from-agent-boyfriend.jhtml">no longer be representing Spears</a>. The pair have always been pretty low-key. In an interview with Ryan Seacrest this March, the pop star opened up about their life together. "We're really normal," she said. "We just like to watch movies; we work out a lot; we take walks." In May, Spears told <a href="http://www.harpersbazaar.com/magazine/cover/britney-spears-talks-gossip-and-family" target="_blank"><i>Harper's Bazaar,</i></a> "I've thought about both [marriage and kids]," saying that tying the knot with Trawick could happen "if the timing was right." And in an interview with <i>Us Weekly</i> in April, <a href="/news/articles/1661441/britney-spears-us-magazine.jhtml">Spears gushed about life</a> with Trawick. "We have such a great time together! He makes me laugh, and we are so comfortable being ourselves," she said. "Maybe [I'll marry again]. Never say never!" </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:703334" width="240" height="211"></div><p> In August, Spears and Trawick walked the red carpet at the 2011 MTV VMAs, and Britney later thanked Trawick when she took the stage to accept her Moonman for <a href="/news/articles/1669846/britney-spears-vmas-best-pop-video.jhtml">Best Pop Video</a> for "Till the World Ends." While the two have remained relatively private, they gave fans a peek at their personal life when they played the lead roles in <a href="http://www.mtv.com/videos/britney-spears/703015/criminal.jhtml">Britney's "Criminal" video</a>. The video focuses on a fictional love affair between their characters, who go on a crime spree that leads to a steamy encounter. Director Chris Marrs Piliero said Trawick "killed it." This will be Britney's third marriage. She was married to Jason Alexander for 55 hours in 2004. Later that year, she married back-up dancer Kevin Federline; the two divorced in 2006. Federline and Spears have two sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston. A rep for the singer has yet to confirm the news of this latest engagement to MTV News. <i>Send your well-wishes to Britney and Jason in the comments.</i></p>

Super Bowl Halftime: Madonna Promises 'Greatest Show On Earth'

Queen of Pop confirms she will be 'singing three old songs and one new one' during halftime show.

Madonna wowed the crowd with some impromptu moves at a press conference today in Indianapolis, Indiana, readying the world for the spectacle she's planning for Sunday's halftime show at Super Bowl XLVI.

Intimating that she's rooting for the New York Giants (she famously got her start and currently resides in New York City, after all), the Queen of Pop complimented Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz on his end-zone salsa dancing, telling reporters, "I have absolutely no criticism of his moves. In fact, he's inspired me. I'm going to show 'em to you and you tell me what you think." She then stepped away from the podium and playfully began to salsa, eliciting hoots and applause from the assembled press. "You think he'd approve?"

The often-provocative diva also assured curious reporters that her focus was firmly on putting on the best show she could. "The envelope I'm pushing is just for a spectacular show, which I think will entertain all age groups and hopefully will be a feast for the eyes and the ears," she said. Judging from early glimpses of her reported stage design, there's no doubt she's got quite the spectacle planned for Sunday.

She also revealed that she's performing four songs — three classics and her new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'," the video for which will be previewed on "American Idol" Thursday (February 2) ahead of the single's release Friday on iTunes. "I promise I will be singing three old songs and one new one," Madonna told reporters. If an early leaked set list and photos of rehearsals are any indication, the vintage Madonna songs audiences can expect to hear will be "Vogue," "Ray of Light" and "Music."

She would not divulge any further details about the show, however, explaining that she didn't want to "give anything away" because she wants viewers to be "knocked out of their seats from beginning to end."

"I'm so excited to be here," a clearly excited Madonna told the crowd. "This is a Midwesterner girl's dream to be performing at the halftime show."

Making the press rounds ahead of what is certainly one of the biggest performances of her three-decade career, Madonna has not been shy about admitting she is nervous and contentious of how big a deal the Super Bowl is.

"Oh my God, I'm so nervous, you have no idea," Madonna told Anderson Cooper during a pre-taped appearance Thursday on his daytime talk show. "First of all, it's the Super Bowl. I mean the Super Bowl is kind of like the holy of holies in America right? ... I have to put on the greatest show on earth, in the middle of the greatest show on earth. I have eight minutes to set it up and seven minutes to take it down and 12 minutes to put on the greatest show on earth. That's a lot of pressure."

It sure is.

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her 'Crazy' Led Zeppelin Covers

'I've listened to their music since I was a child,' says the R&B diva, who recorded 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love.'

<P>You wouldn't peg Mary J Blige as the black-light-and-tapestry sort, but, as has become readily apparent in recent weeks, she absolutely loves Led Zeppelin. In early February, reports began circulating that <a href="/news/articles/1631297/mary-j-blige-records-led-zeppelins-stairway-to-heaven.jhtml">Blige had re-recorded Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven,"</a> working with Travis Barker, "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson and guitarist Steve Vai on the track, which is slated to appear on the international reissue of her <i>Stronger With Each Tear</i> album, due Monday. </p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float:left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:491065" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D491065" allowFullScreen="true" wmode="transparent" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p> But after she had recorded "Stairway," Blige continued to get the Led out, covering <i>another</i> Zeppelin classic &#8212; the thunderous "Whole Lotta Love" &#8212; for the album too. And when MTV News caught up with her on the <i>Essence</i> Black Women in Hollywood red carpet, she told us all about channeling her inner Robert Plant for the tracks, a process that came much easier than you'd probably imagine. "I did Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Whole Lotta Love' &#8212; it's crazy," she said. "I am a Led Zeppelin fan. I'm not going to say I've been to their concerts, but I've listened to their music since I was a child, and it's always moved me, especially 'Stairway to Heaven,' and 'Whole Lotta Love' is just fun." Blige also said she recorded another new song &#8212; a "club record" called "I Can't Wait" &#8212; for the re-release. And while it's only slated to hit shelves outside the U.S., she hopes her fans will get a chance to hear all the new songs pretty soon. "I want y'all to hear it," she laughed.</p>

Britney Spears' Engagement Ring: How Does It Stack Up?

From Kim and Kris' monster-size rock to Beyoncé and Jay-Z's 18-carat mega-sparkler, we dish on the diamonds.

<P>After <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> confirmed her <a href="/news/articles/1676120/britney-spears-is-engaged.jhtml">engagement to longtime beau Jason Trawick</a> last Friday, fans wanted to know everything about the ring, a four-carat diamond designed by Neil Lane. Trawick &#8212; Brit's former agent &#8212; popped the question after working with famed jeweler Lane on the design, according to <a href="http://stylenews.peoplestylewatch.com/2011/12/18/jason-trawick-britney-spears-engagement-ring" target="_blank">People.com</a>. The site also reported that Trawick wanted a crown-like band. In addition to the mega-sparkler at the center of the tiara-style setting, the hubby-to-be also had 90 small round diamonds added around the band. Spears debuted the ring during a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her fianc&#233;'s birthday. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:720382" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same &#8212; she is his princess!" Lane told the website. "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone." Minya Oh, the author of "Bling Bling: Hip Hop's Crown Jewels," told MTV News she was pleasantly surprised by how understated the rock is. "The ring is so damn classy! It's [four] carats, which by Hollywood standards these days is practically microscopic," Oh said. "The setting is a tiny crown but both that and the thin diamond-studded band are done so delicately, from afar the focus is still on that bright white center stone. Nothing about the ring overwhelms her hand, and nothing screams, 'Please believe my relationship is real!' " She added, "This is the kind of ring a pop icon has when they're ready for something that means more than just the ring." This is hardly Spears' first engagement ring, however. When her <a href="/news/articles/1676192/britney-spears-engaged-k-fed-comments.jhtml">ex Kevin Federline</a> popped the question back in 2004, the former back-up dancer gave the pop princess a five-carat diamond <a href="http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20150527,00.html" target="_blank">ring</a>. All this talk about rocks got us thinking about some other celebrity proposals, so we decided to spotlight a few memorable engagement rings. <big><b>Kim Kardashian &amp; Kris Humphries</b></big><br> When it comes to size, Spears' ring from Trawick is small compared to <a href="/news/articles/1664525/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-engagement.jhtml">Kim Kardashian's monster-size rock</a>. When Kris Humphries popped the question earlier this year, he gave her a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond. Of course, the size of the ring didn't guarantee lasting marital bliss: the couple <a href="/news/articles/1673465/kim-kardashian-kris-humphries-divorce-statement.jhtml">split after 72 days</a> of marriage. <big><b> Beyonc&#233; &amp; Jay-Z</b></big><br> Like Humpdash, Jay-Z, who is expecting his first <a href="/news/articles/1669849/beyonce-pregnant-vmas.jhtml">child with wife Beyonc&#233;</a>, also went the Lorraine Schwartz route. He gave his pop-star lady love an 18-carat ring back in 2007. The couple kept their wedding ceremony under wraps. <big><b>Kristin Cavallari &amp; Jay Cutler</b></big><br> While it has been a bumpy engagement for former "Hills" star <a href="/news/articles/1675147/kristin-cavallari-jay-cutler-engaged-again.jhtml">Kristin Cavallari and her football player</a> fianc&#233; Jay Cutler, the couple announced they were engaged <i>again</i> last month. Cutler opted to use the same 5.2-carat ring he'd given the MTV reality star back in April when he first decided to put a ring on it. <big><b> Hilary Duff &amp; Mike Comrie </b></big><br> Before Mike Comrie asked <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2010/02/24/hilary-duffs-giant-engagement-ring-details-emerge">mama-to-be Hilary Duff</a> to be his blushing bride last year, he reportedly spent $1 million for the sparkler, said to be about 12 to 13 carats. <big><b>Katy Perry &amp; Russell Brand</b></big><br> <a href="/news/articles/1629130/katy-perry-engaged-to-russell-brand-rep-confirms.jhtml">Russell Brand also gifted Katy Perry</a> with a ring of about 12 to 13 carats when he proposed last year to <a href="/news/articles/1676073/best-artists-of-2011-katy-perry.jhtml">MTV's 2011 Artist of the Year</a>. The comedian asked the pop star to marry him while the two were in India. The couple would later re-create that magic when they also married in the country in October 2010. <i>Share your well-wishes for Britney and Jason in the comments!</i></p>

'The Help' Wins Big At SAG Awards

Co-stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer triumph in actress categories, while 'Artist' star edges out George Clooney for Best Actor.

A surprise win for "The Help" for Best Ensemble capped off a rather predictable night at the SAG Awards on Sunday (January 29). The adaptation of the best-selling novel picked up individual awards for both Octavia Spencer, who won Best Supporting Actress, and Viola Davis, who won Best Actress.

The rest of the Screen Actors Guild Awards were dominated by category favorites. Christopher Plummer kicked off the night with another win to add his impressive amount of gold for his role in "Beginners." The legendary actor expressed his job satisfaction by stating, "I can't tell you what fun I've had being a member of the world's second oldest profession."

A mild shock came in the Best Actor category for film, when French actor Jean Dujardin edged out George Clooney for his role in the awards favorite "The Artist." The silent ode to the golden era of filmmaking had been a favorite for the evening's biggest categories, but huge wins from "The Help" stole the thunder from the Oscar favorite.

Past winners in the TV categories took the stage at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium as repeat winners. Betty White seemed more confused than anyone when she won the award for Best Actress in a comedy series for the second year in a row. The cast of "Modern Family" stormed the stage with a painfully pre-rehearsed acceptance speech for Best Comedy Series, and Steve Buscemi took to the mic twice for wins in the Best Actor in a Drama Series and Best Drama series categories for "Boardwalk Empire."

Other winners in the television categories included Alec Baldwin for "30 Rock" and Jessica Lange for "American Horror Story." Kate Winslet and Paul Giamatti won their respective categories for actors in a TV movie or miniseries.
